Offshore Bottom Fishing and Red Snapper

Report Date: June 18, 2013

Red Snapper is going to be open until June 26 so if you're looking to do a Red snapper trip call us soon we still have a few dates to pick from. These fish are great fighters and one of Florida's best eating fish too.

Shark fishing has also been good and should stay good all the way through the summer. We have been catching blacktips, hammerhead and some big lemon sharks on some of the wrecks offshore using BIG live baits.

Kings are still around and the red grouper bite remains strong from 80-140 ft. of water. Most bottom fishing trips in these depths will also produce a mixed bag of red snapper, lane snapper, mangrove snapper as well as grouper. Some blackfin tuna are still around - trolling or live baits will both work.

If you don't want to head to the deep offshore waters, plenty of tarpon are available within a much shorter boat ride. Tampa Bay's Sunshine Skyway Bridge is one of the best, and most scenic, spots to battle the silver king. If the tarpon are feeding, live bait or live crabs will almost certainly draw a strike.
