Spring Break 2010 Fishing report for St Pete Beach

Report Date: March 11, 2010

Spring will bring the END of the winter god knows we have had a COLD one this year.I have never seen so many inshore fish dead from the cold water temps from this years winter. The water drop into the mid 40 which is way to cold for the fish here in west central Florida. these fish are used to water temps 60-80 degree. The Offshore bite was slow all winter, when you got a chance to get out.The wind seemed to stay blowing 20 days out of the month, needless to say I am looking forward to some sunny Florida weather.

On the good note I went out this weekend and the fish were chewing. as soon as the baits hit the bottom they were on it.Grouper, grunts, trigger fish and porgies.Tried fishing for some amberjack but it seemed the were out feather maybe 40 to 50 miles. most of the fishing we did was inside of 30 miles.Mackerel will be here soon right along with the kings and cobia's. grouper will open on april 1st so fishing will heat up very fast!!!!
